Bible Question:
Everyone, I need some help. I have been talking to this woman at work for some time about jesus, faith, and salvation. And she just doesnt care. she says, so what I'll go to hell, I dont care!! she also says that she grew up in a cathlic school and that's what messed her all up. I get the impression that she has no idea what hell really is. Im not really sure how to explain to her the truth about what happens after one dies. So can you all help me for my words are not enough and I need good counsel here. should I just keep talking to her? what I have also been doing is sending her christian stories that emphasis this area, but the ones I can find a few and far in between. what I would like to do is have the truth about what happens to one after they pass from this life on paper and get her to read that. thanks in advance for your help. mrchadly |
Bible Answer: MrChadly, First I want to encourage you to keep talking to her, being sensative to her feelings, at least until she outright tells you to stop. Many times although someone may seem to turn away from the message of the Gospel, it is getting through to some degree. I argued very strongly against the message of the Gospel (especially the inerrancy of the Bible)with Christians who were trying to get through to me. Finally I started reading the Bible more closely so that I could put up a better argument and was saved. I think the best way to discribe Hell is eternal separation from God. Since God is the source of all good for believers and non-believers alike, try to have them imagine a life without any good. Even when we get a paper cut, the healing of that cut is a blessing from God that is enjoyed by the worst criminal while they are alive. An existance without God's blessings would be an existance of continous loss, depression, sickness, infection, sorrow, fear and torment. Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: Some, I believe, think that an existance in hell without God would mean that they could continue in their dark sins without a judge to answer to, but in order to continue in sin one must be receiving blessings from God. Without the universal grace God gives all including the unbeliever, a person would be too sick, depressed and sorrowful to even gain temporal pleasure from their sinfullness. Mat 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. Tell your friend to try to picture her existance in the absents of all good. She may outwardly reject this notion, but she would have to think about it. Remain in Jesus, Bob |
