Bible Question: Prayer is as important as reading the Bible. Yet I see few willing to close a Sunday Class in prayer. the same is true in other areas as well. Why are you personally reluctant to pray out loud in a church setting? If your has no issue to pray out loud please do not answer this. |
Bible Answer: There are some instructions/commandments that Jesus Christ gave to his people about prayers. Mt 6:5 ¶ And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. Mt 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. Mt 6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Mt 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. Perhaps, it is depend in anyone intentions why they have to pray loud or to pray in secret. It is depend also in situation. When I was young, we have this Christ Ambassador camp every summer, the objective of that youth camp is to win the unbeliever and tried to convert them to follow Christ. We do everything in our capacity to make a noise, praying, singing, etc etc to catch anyone attention for what we are doing and hope that by doing these things we can influence people (specially the youth) to be aware about Jesus Christ and its ministry. But we also taught to pray in our own, so if we are inside our home or rooms I don't think we have to shout or to be loud to amplify the prayers. In this case we can ask our Father in secret and ask forgiveness in secret and He might answered our prayers in secret. I cannot imagine myself praying out loud saying "Lord forgive me because me and the my neighbor has sexual relationship" the result could be dangerous, it is not only defame the person but also the reaction of the people involved could be violent. |
