Bible Question: In the KJV Jesus says to the women, "And He said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee Whole; go in Peace." I would like opinions please, do you think the use of the word "Whole" is far better than others words that have substituted it.To me the word whole is, everything, altogether,a rounding of what Christ meant. Thanks |
Bible Answer: Johnny45, The use of the word "whole" is rather old fashioned, but I think it makes an important point. The point is that Christ saves us from our brokeness, He restores that which is missing in us, God's grace, and we are made "whole" the complete people that we were meant to be. He restores our integrity as human beings as God created us to be. We lost our integrity when we were dis-graced by the sin of Adam who lacked faith in God and we regain our integrity and are made whole, graced, by faith in Christ who came to restore all things by being faithful, even to death on the cross. Look up the word whole in a good dictionary and it reflects the all that is implied in being made well from sickness or disease and more. An interesting question. Emmaus |
