AMPLIFIED 2015 | Luke 6:37 ¶ "Do not judge [others self-righteously], and you will not be judged; do not condemn [others when you are guilty and unrepentant], and you will not be condemned [for your hypocrisy]; pardon [others when they truly repent and change], and you will be pardoned [when you truly repent and change]. Bible Question: A pastor keeps giving a wrong information in his sermon. For example, one day, he said Oprah Winfrey's success results from her Christian faith, so we should live like her. But Oprah is not a Christian but a new age activist who belives there are millions of ways to go to God or to Heaven, rejecting the Bible's teaching that Jesus Christ alone is the only Way to God. Am I "judging" the pastor when saying his idea on Oprah is incorrect? Should I just "forgive" him for whatever misinformation in the sermon? |
Bible Answer: Also, IF you don't get the kind of response for which you're looking, here's a few more verses that would apply. Acts 18:24 Now a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus. 25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26 So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. 27 And when he desired to cross to Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him; and when he arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace; 28 for he vigorously refuted the Jews publicly, showing from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ. I would think that should be enough but upon his continued rejecting your loving advice, I can only refer you to Matt 18:15 “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ 17 And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector. |
