Bible Question: Is un-forgiveness a sin? If so, what specific scripture supports this? |
Bible Answer: ederd, Greetings my friend and welcome to the Forum! In asking this question,we should first look at Christ's example of forgiving His enemies as in Luke 23:34. I don't believe there is any "specific" scripture that defines unforgiveness as sin. Realize that unforgiveness is really a lack of faith,a hardness of heart, etc. We cannot set up a higher standard than God Himself has provided through Christ (Rom. 5:8). Christ was emphatic in the Sermon on the Mount in Matt.6:14-15 that forgiveness was required . However, now I believe that Romans 14:23 is our guide in that it addresses more than just unforgiveness: "...and whatever is not from faith is sin." Truly our walk should be consistent with our calling, and as such Christ implores us to forgive others (Eph. 4:32, Col. 2:13, 3:13). I believe the obvious answer is: Yes, unforgiveness is sin. As we seek to be obedient to Him, we should also follow His supreme example! Speaking The truuth In Love, BradK |
