Bible Question:
why did judas betray jesus |
Bible Answer: First that foremost the scriptures tells us Satan entered Judas. But also theologians usually agree to the belief that Judas was trying to force Jesus' hand. The Jews hated Roman captivity and it was the common belief that the Messiah would cast off all physical restraints to Judaism. Judas many believe was trying to get Jesus into action and lead the Messianic rebellion that freed the Jew from all captivity. There was also the money issue, we know Judas had a weakness concerning money, he stole from the money he held for Jesus and the disciples. He was going to be paid 30 pieces of silver so we are sure that also influenced him. But again the key factor was Satan efforts in his life. |
