Bible Question (short): Lazarus, Abraham's Bosom, something else |
Question (full): Ok. I see the notes on Luke 16:22, but I didn't specify my questions very well. I will specify. My number 1 question is, 'In the 16th chapter of Luke, it talks about Lazarus. Is this the same Lazarus that is mentioned in John 11?' 'It also mentions that the rich man, who is in Hell or Hades, is speaking to Abraham. Am I confused or am I getting this straight? The rich man is talking to Abraham, who the rich man calls Father Abraham, when Abraham is actually in "Abraham's Bosom?" That is my third question. What is Abraham's Bosom? Is it an inbetween place that people who believed in the God of the old testament went until Jesus came and freed them when He died and went to Hell and then ascended? Or is this just a metaphorical expression in which Luke is using to describe Heaven? It just doesn't sound right. A person who is in Hell cannot talk to someone who is in Heaven. The bible directly specifies in Luke 16:26 that one who is in Heaven cannot go to Hell or vise versa. I know that it saids "pass to," but I remember reading, and I believe it is in the new testament, that there is a barrier that restricts those from Heaven from seeing the ones who are in Hell. Is this in the bible or am I just rambling off something I may have read in some other book? If it isn't, I sincerely apologize for giving false information. That is why I asked if it was in the bible somewhere. I am just extremely confused about this Abraham's Bosom thing, not so much if it is the Lazarus mentioned in John. |
