NASB | Luke 13:1 Now on the same occasion there were some present who reported to Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Luke 13:1 Just at that time some people came who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate [the governor] had mixed with their sacrifices. |
Bible Question:
I have a friend who stated that the Jews were not responsible for Christ being crucified. He states that Ponchas Pilate simply deferred his power to them, so therefore, the Christians are really responsible. Was Ponchas Pilate considered a Christian? |
Bible Answer: Pontius Pilate believed Jesus to be innocent of the accusations against Him (Luke 23:4), but Pilate was by no means a Christian. As a matter of fact Pilate massacred a group of Galileans who went to sacriface to God. (Luke 13:1-2) We don't know if Pilate received Christ subsequent to His death, but at the time of Jesus' trial, Pilate was a Roman- pagan governor. Your friend is simply mistaken. The fact of the matter is that all of mankind killed Jesus. Our sins sent the Son of God to the cross, not just one group of people. |
