Bible Question:
What was Jesus actually saying here: Lu 17.6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. |
Bible Answer: Hello Ken, Luke 17:5 The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!" Luke 17:6 And the Lord said, "If you had faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and be planted in the sea'; and it would obey you. The apostles desired that their faith be increased. They were concerned by His teaching, and asked Him for help. Jesus then gave them a parable which showed that it was not the greatness (size) of ones faith that was important. For the exercise of the smallest faith makes possible that which is impossible without it. John Reformed |
