NASB | Mark 7:7 'BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.' |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Mark 7:7 'THEY WORSHIP ME IN VAIN [their worship is meaningless and worthless, a pretense], TEACHING THE PRECEPTS OF MEN AS DOCTRINES [giving their traditions equal weight with the Scriptures].' [Is 29:13] |
Bible Question:
Aren’t there some religious groups that fall into this vain category? Don't they also use vain repetitions when they pray, repeating the same thing over and over; and in their hypnotic music, repeating the same verse over and over? Matthew 6:7 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. |
Bible Answer: Jer. 23:28-29 Let him speak my word faithfuly , is it not like a hammer breaking the rock. prov. 13:2, 15:4, 18:20, all indicate that useing our mouths to proclaim our inheritence and yield the sword of the Spirit [ repeating our confessions daily is a good thing.] |
