Bible Question: Is it lawful to eat swine nowadays? If not if someone did is he violating tha law of God? |
Bible Answer: Hi Jon, and welcome to the StudyBibleForum! It is lawfull to eat swine, (pork, as I usually prefer to say), although according to my wife, now that she's been reading some books on nutrition, perhaps not the greatest idea. The Bible teaches us that pigs were among the unclean animals, and that Jesus "declared all foods clean." Mark 7:18 And He *said to them, "Are you so lacking in understanding also? Do you not understand that whatever goes into the man from outside cannot defile him, 19 because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and is eliminated?" (Thus He declared all foods clean.) This was further reinforced in a vision of Peter's: Acts 11:9 "But a voice from heaven answered a second time, 'What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy.' So go ahead, eat pork, or swine, but cook it well, and moderation seems to be the clue. I hope this helps! Love in Christ, mark |
