Bible Question: I need to know where it says in the bible to put your family before GOD |
Bible Answer: The Bible doesn't say to put your family before God. It states to put God before all others, but this will enhance a man's ability to lead his family and be a better father and husband. Read on. Deut 6:5 -- The first of the ten commandments, is to love the Lord with all your heart, soul and might. In Matthew 22:37-38, Jesus states that this is the greatest commandment. In Ephesians 6:25-29, Paul's instruction to husbands say that men should love their wives, just as Christ loved the Church -- but I think from His example, we can learn that His love for the Father was greater. Also most of I John talks about the love of God, also. Loving God and putting Him above all others doesn't demean a husband's love for his wife, it elevates it, because the closer a man draws to God, the greater his capacity to love (Rom 5:5). |
