Bible Question:
In Mathew 8:28-34 it states that when the Jesus crossed the sea with the disciples that two possessed men met them in the land of Gergesenes. And then in Mark 5:1-20 it states that when Jesus crossed the sea with the disciples that one possessed man met them in the land of Gadarenes. Question: Is this the same occurrence told from two different point of views- or is a totally different location? Just a little confused |
Bible Answer: God's day to you, jones86491 We see the Greek Gadarenos is translated Gergesenes (in some translations) ... "reward at the end" in Mathew 8:28. It is Gadarenes in other trnaslations and in Mark 5:1; Luk 8:26,37. The word is from from Gadara (a town east of the Jordan). They are the same place. It si the same Greek word - just translated differently. Searcher |
