AMPLIFIED 2015 | Mark 2:22 "No one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the [fermenting] wine will [expand and] burst the skins, and the wine is lost as well as the wineskins. But new wine must be put into new wineskins." |
Bible Question: What does this mean? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Loosed... Welcome to the forum! This passage is Christ's early assertion that the new covenant will be "housed" in a new order. This is what is meant by the fancy word "supercessionism." The old covenant was implemented by the institutions of Israel. The new covenant is implemented by the new institution of the church: the invisible body of Christ. The institutions of the old covenant would be utterly inadequate to the full richness of the new.
