Bible Question: Can someone please explain to me what the parable of the old/new wineskins means? |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Mat 9:14-17, Mar 2:18-22, Luk 5:33-38 ... God's day to you, Osis, The parable of the old/new wineskins is in the context in why His disciples weren't fasting like the Pharisees (twice a week (Luk 18:12) or John's disciples ... possibly four more times (Zec 7:5, 8:19), than required one time by Law (Num 29:7). He the the bridegroom mentioned and people didn't fast when he was there - it was a celebration time. He stated two facts about old and new don't mix. Some think that His teaching is the new and the traditions are the old ... or it could be the traditions are the new and the Law is the Old. I like the latter, because He doesn't say to throw out the old ... it just needs to use the old garments or wine. S |
