Subject: Fasting? |
Bible Note: Dear Irene, Thank you so much for providing the scriptures. May I also suggest you search the below posts in the search box at your upper right hand corner of the screen for more understanding of fastings. 6261 6280 141257 Zech 8:19 is not talking about a joyful fasting (or I should say people do not fast with joy Mat 9:15) for fasting is usually attached to sorrow, repentance (as you have written), afflictions. Please read again the context of this scripture. As to the idea that "fasting is to get the lord's attention for an urgent answer to our problem", I hope this is done with the drive of the Holy Spirit in an earnest plea and submissive to the sovereignty of God rather than a means to appeal to the Lord to get Him do anything for us. (see how sorrowful and yet submissive when Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane) God has been and is watching over us without a blink (Prov 15:3) in the eyes. From the day of my birth to this very moment of my earthly life, He watches and helps at His time be it urgent or not, be it with my awareness or not...some are even fatal to my life and He helps and saves before I could realize its danger or emergency. Needless to say could I mutter an SOS to Him. Just a bit of my sharing. May we grow together by His inerrant Word. Shalom Azure |
