Bible Question: What do you think about being baptised a second time. I was baptised as a child to join my church but now I want to be baptised again because I've accepted The Lord as my Savior and I now know that Jesus is the way the truth and the light no man cometh to the Father but through Me. |
Bible Answer: It is clear that baptism before salvation is of no account. The order is always to believe and then to be baptized. It is when we believe on the Lord Jesus Christ that we are saved, as in Acts 16:31. It is after we are saved that we are to be baptized, as in Acts 16:33. The advice here is that you should be baptized again. It is notable, however, that you have given the reason for the baptism, that you have "accepted the Lord" as your Savior and that you know those things about him. Please be clear that you are saved before going through with baptism. It is to be hoped that the church you go to for that important ceremony will explain these things to you. For salvation, the Lord requires repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Be sure that you understand, that you have done as he requires, and that you have an assurance of salvation. Make sure that your next baptism is the one that counts, so you never have to ask that question again. Baptism is an important act of obedience. May the Lord bless you as you seek to please him in this. |
