Subject: What is the significance of this verse? |
Bible Note: As you can see, it is in the gospel according to Mark. Traditionally, according to some scholars, it is believed that this is an account of John Mark about himself. It may be that this was the only one of the saints that was aware of this occurrance. Surely the other disciples were preoccupied with their own emotions that night. It is believed that he was the son of the woman, Mary, who let Jesus and His apostles use the upper room of her house for the Passover. It is believed that he was a young man or teenager at this time and it shows the fear he must have felt that night. He later became the writer of this gospel and we see him in the Book of Acts and some of the epistles, as he traveled to spread the gospel during the time of the apostle Paul.(Acts 12:12, Acts 15:37, II Timothy 4:11). I hope this is helpful. Itiswritten. |
