NASB | Mark 11:23 "Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Mark 11:23 "I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!' and does not doubt in his heart [in God's unlimited power], but believes that what he says is going to take place, it will be done for him [in accordance with God's will]. Bible Question:
Is this scripture telling me that if I believe that I have what I want at the time of my prayer I can actually expect it? Mark 11:24 "Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you. |
Bible Answer: Mark 11:20-26 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. It is amazing how much revelation is in the context and yet how often preachers build their doctrines of verses divorced from the context. If we see that unforgiveness will cause God not to hear us then we see that the idea of asking what we will has to do with a proper spiritual request. In my opinion we could say that if I were to ask the Lord to give me the ability to forgive someone I could be sure that if I have faith I will indeed have forgiveness for that person. Or if I ask that I could be free from a besetting sin, though it have deep roots like this fig tree, I can ask and believe and will see that thing dried up from the roots and be gone. If I say to this mountain obstacle that is blocking my growth in the Lord or my vision, (such as the log in my eye) be removed and if I have faith like the widow who continously went before the judge, I will have victory, I will be free, I will have whatsoever I ask. If a man asks for things that he may consume it upon his lusts, Jesus never meant that he would get that, James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. So we know that there is a balance, and what is that balance? Spiritual treasures, that is what we are to seek. I will claim a deeper walk of Love, what will you claim? :) |
