AMPLIFIED 2015 | Mark 11:18 The chief priests and the scribes heard this and began searching for a way to destroy Him; for they were afraid of Him, since the entire crowd was struck with astonishment at His teaching. |
Bible Question:
Why were the chief priests afraid of him - was it becuase of his rightous anger or was it because of his teaching; if it was because of his teaching was it not something that the chief priests would have already known from the scriptures. |
Bible Answer: Hello thenoel, Greetings! I think your first two are good, He certainly displayed power in clearing the temple, and his teaching could not be refuted, as He was perfect in His teaching, But also, the priests enjoyed there position as rulers of the people, and Jesus was a threat to that, as the people were not only astonished at His teaching, but many had seen and or heard of His many other great works as well. They wanted to get rid of of Him also because of the evil in their hearts. They were bent on power and greed. I hope this helps you. God bless. John |
