Bible Question:
why did James and John request special places in Jesus' kingdom, explain please MARK 10:36-40 |
Bible Answer: MARK 10: 38-40, Matthew 20:20-28 Short version - they were human. It certainly appears from Jesus' comments that they didn't quite understand what they had been told, or what they were asking for. Matthew's account states they were prodded to ask for "preference". It may certainly be that they beleived his return and earthly kingdom would be immediate - remeber, these guys were Jews, and the Jewish perception of Messiah was an earthly King and conqueror. They did love Him, and He they, so perhaps there was some pride or selfishness creeping in. |
