Bible Question: Does God force His will on us ? |
Bible Answer: Hello tracylynnwoods1975. As was discussed on the question of "ekballo" and the resulting definition according to Strong the word is defined as "to eject." Vine's has "denotes, lit., "to cast forth," with the suggestion of force (ek, "out," ballo, "to cast"); hence "to drive out or forth." It is translated "driveth" in Mark 1:12, RV, "driveth forth." In John 2:15 for the AV, "drove," the RV has "cast," the more usual translation." I would also like to ask you to look into your own walk for insight into the question. Let me also add that in discussion I've had with others they say that God does not force us, does not violate "our will," but I say that is rubbish. Man has no "free will" as it is called. How can the will be free if in bondage to sin, even from conception (Ps. 51:5.) Yes, we can choose between chocolate and vanilla, but to choose God when born in sin is impossible. There is no free will. Free will in man is an illusion. Man is in bondage to sin and while in this body of this death there is a constant struggle between flesh and Spirit. But as an unconverted man who is only flesh (no Spirit), their inability to choose God condemns them unless they are Elect of God, those whose names are written by God in the book of life of the lamb slain from the foundation of the world (Rev. 13:8). Let me also add this to my reply...a person is born into this world in bondage to sin. I also believe they are a dichotomy (body and soul... no human spirit), and unless God intervenes and births them they will be cast into "hell" a dichotomy. But if God intervenes in a persons life and births that person God creates a new human spirit and the person is restored to a trichotomy, that is, the image of God (body, soul, human spirit... Eph. 4:24; 2 Cor. 5:17.) There are no persons bearing the image of God in "hell." If I may...if God does intervene in a persons life and is born again the person is freed from the bondage of sin and in a sense are declared "Not Guilty!" (justification) by God and the so-called will in the person that was in bondage is freed there is only one place to go: God. It's not that He forces Himself on His kids, but rather, once freed there is only one place to go: God. And He not only takes us, but He claims us. In a sense God "makes us willing" in all things in which He is directly involved in a moment in TIME in a person's life. A believer that has been born again does not "stand still" but is led. To have force is to have resistence, whether as once standing still and the "force" moves it, or as going in one direction and the Holy Spirit "forces" in another direction. Case in point, Paul wanted to go one direction but the Holy Spirit "made" him go in another direction (Acts 16:6 to 10.) There is only One Will that is Sovereign in all creation and eternity - God. His will be done on earth AS IT IS in "heaven." |
