Bible Question:
LOL, I have been looking for a way to respond to this since you posted it. Duh! Post a note at teh bottom where it gives me the ability to do so. Ok, that part is done. I agree that this, and many of the studies I involve myself in, do require critical thinking, along with a willingness to pursue all of the passages that might pertain, rightly dividing all of them. digesting the meaning without adding, subtracting or distorting any of the meaning of the individual pieces, and combining all of the meaning that pertains in such a way that none of the meaning is left out, added to, or distorted to froce it to fit a belief or belief set. I would say that this is something we are commanded to TEACH ALL CHRISTIANS to do, and that passing up an oportunity because "some" might respond as those in Mat. 7:6 is something that neither Jesus, nor the disciples did. Pursuing the issue, or any issue, with those that respond this way is sin. That said, I am open to your interpretation of scriptures, and would ask that you present me with the passages that cause you to come to different conclusions. Ultimately though, I am under your authority here, and it is you who is responsible for the decisions you make, good or bad, biblical or otherwise. I do want to learn what scriptures would lead you to this conclusion though. In context of what Jesus and the disciples actually did, of course. If the guidelines set are contrary to what Jesus and the disciples did, how they lived, how they taught, ... and the behavior is, for these reasons, not CHristlike, or Christian, as was displayed in their lives and responses, I am quite sure that those in positions of leadership might be willing to reevaluate their positions, or at least give me a reason for the faith that lies within them, with all doctrine and longsuffering. Next question: how do I find your profile, I love to discuss all isues pertaining to the truth, and your disagrement, or agreement with me is not an issue. I learn nothing from those that agree with me. Besides, if you agree, that might only be one more person with an erroneous belief. LOL BY the way, I have taught that there are many situations where others may believe that the decisions of those in leadership are wrong. Unless what they do is clearly sin, those under authority are to obey. No explanation required. And if it is sin, or requires others to sin, you had best be willing to present the truth with all doctrine and longsuffering, with the humiity and respect due to the position of the one in authority, asking for any biblical reasons they can present that might alter our perception of the event, or even a modification of what they request so that you can submit to both God and them, but lastly, if what is asked requires you to sin, that you respectfully disobey man, and obey God, and respectfully bear any consequences for doing so. I am a man in authority, and under authority. I support your decisions regardless, within the boundaries just discussed. May GOd bless you and yours, and gosh, I do look forward to our future discussions. |
