AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 6:5 ¶ "Also, when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to pray [publicly] standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets so that they may be seen by men. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, they [already] have their reward in full. |
Bible Question: I trying to explain to someone that there is no such thing as a silent prayer. Can you tell which scriptures would back up the fact that we need to verbally commmunicate with God? Even though God already know what we have need of before we even ask! |
Bible Answer: Greetings Onerichwoman! I know of no scripture in the bible that says we must pray verbally. Prayer can be in any form, verbal or silent. I was told once, although I don't have a scripture for it, when you pray outloud Satan can hear your prayer; but when you pray silently he can not. Matt 6:5-6 says that we are to enter into our prayer closet and pray in secret. Luke 18:1 and 1Thes 5:17 states we are to pray continuously - I don't think we would be praying out loud continuously. Sorry but I believe prayer can be said silently. Is there a scripture that you believe said we are to always pray verbally? prayon |
