Bible Question: what does it mean by the verse mathew 6:23 |
Bible Answer: Hi prashant, If we begin reading in verse 19 we can see Jesus is speaking of worldly treasures, and the desires of the heart; not to store these things up for ourselves, and this speaks also of not looking upon them covetously. Still on this theme, Jesus goes on to say in verse 23 "If the eye is bad" meaning: if the eye looks upon worldly treasures covetously, then the heart is bad also. Hence, He then says: "how great is the darkness!" This is a dire warning to put aside our desires for worldly treasures. I hope this helps John |
