Bible Question: What is the origin of the last sentence in brackets? Some Bible versions do not include it all while other versions include it in brackets or italics. Thanks. |
Bible Answer: The origin of this is unknown. The manuscripts that the KJV translators used had this included. However when earlier manuscripts (which are thought to be closer to the original) were found they did not have it. NASB in effort to reconcile with the KJV placed the verse in text but annotates it as not being in the earlier manuscripts. The text in question does not modify or contradicts existing doctrine nor does it suggest a new doctrine, and since it conforms with the overall teaching and truths established in Scripture I see it as a non issue.
