Bible Question: Can you help me to explain what does it mean "blesses are those who are hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled. Thank you |
Bible Answer: The Sermon on the Mount and the Messianic Kingdom belong to Israel. Jesus was preparing His disciples for their ministry after His departure. What does the Bible say? Matthew 10:5: "These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." What did He say to the non-Jew Canaanite woman? "I can't give to you dogs (Gentiles) that which belongs to the children" --- "that which" is the promised Messianic Kingdom. The "children" are Israel! Look at Matthew 10:7. "And as ye go, preach, saying, the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand." He is instructing the 12 apostles who were chosen to announce to Jewish folk that the Messianic Kingdom (of Heaven) was ready to be implemented, then and there. In the Sermon on the Mount and in the Olivet Discourse Jesus is speaking to the 12 Apostles (and the 70 disciples who followed, the "12 plus70") about what will happen to the Jews who hear them. They shall be blessed. They shall be filled. They shall obtain. They shall see God. Each "shall" is future. The Hebrew Nation rejected Him as the Messiah, even after hearing the Good News as brought to them by the 12 plus 70. He died for them anyway, then through Paul sent the Good News to we Gentiles (eventually Peter got the hang of it when the great sheet was lowered). Go read the Pauline Epistles for your duties as a follower of Christ: To honor Him, to worship Him, to invite the Holy Spirit to lead you in paths of righteousness for HIS name's sake!. |
