Bible Question: what is your response to dating a married man? |
Bible Answer: I will assume we are talking about Christians here, because in the world all these things are practiced, usually without conscience. On the other hand, however, I wonder how a Christian could even ask such a question! For a woman to date a married man is a betrayal of all she believes in the Lord; a betrayal of marriage, a betrayal of other women. A betrayal of that which is sacred before the Lord. For a man who is married to even consider dating is the ultimate betrayal. If a woman becomes sexually involved with a married man she commits adultery, as does the man. Any person who is practicing such behaviour must be disciplined in the church, held accountable for their actions, removed from any position of authority/leadership (including choir, usher, parking cars). The key here is the word PRACTICING: keeping on with, continuing without repentance. When a person sins and claims (by word or action) that which he/she has done to not be sin and continues in that thing without repentance they must be disciplined even unto removal from the church. One who repents and submits to Godly council may be fully restored in the church. I see this is not practiced in the church today for the most part and I would reason this to be why so much that is false and antichristian is infiltrating. Now, as I understand the Word, if a divoice has occurred due to adultery the one against whom this sin has been committed is free, fully free in the Lord ... even to remarry. |
