Bible Question: Hello all. I'm new to this forum. I joined to ask a question and possible get some guidance as to bible verses to read. I'm in a relationship with a girl and we are not sexual active. Sexual active meaning no intercourse or anal. She does not want to have sex till marriage and i feel that sex is not an important part of a relationship and is worth waiting for. But we do perform oral and mutual masterbation. She feels that what we do is not going against the teachings of the bible. I don't feel 100 percent that way either but have had questions. So we both talked about it and funny enough we're both attempting to justify what we do. But I remember grandma saying "With the bible its never kinda wrong." So to cut this short because i could type forever. I'm basically looking for bible verses that say something about foreplay. All the ones i've looked at so far deal with fornication which i translate as sexual intercourse which is not what we are doing, but thats just my translation, i may be translating it wrong to better suit me. Help. |
Bible Answer: Dear James, While Christ was here on earth He taught us that sin is not limited to actions but originates in our minds. In His sermon on the mount, Christ taught us that we don’t commit adultery, or fornication for that matter, only by our actions, but He said “anyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Matthew 5:28. Fornication is only a specific type of adultery. Time and again, Paul called people to sexual purity, 1 Thessalonians 4:3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality; Romans 6:12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, Romans 13:14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts. 2 Timothy 2:22 Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. And here’s another angle. There’s no way to know if you will marry this woman. Say that when the time comes, you end up marrying someone else. Would you be proud to tell your wife of the things you’re doing? Let’s say the shoe was on the other foot. Imagine you’re married. Would you want your wife to have done these things with some other guy? Purity is very important to God. Now you have not committed any unpardonable sin or anything like that, but I would STRONGLY encourage you to take your relationship with this girl down quite a few notches. I pray that you will make the right choice. In Christian love, Ocelot |
