Bible Note: Steve, haMashiach said to his students.. the sopherim and the p rashim are sitting in Moshe seat... scribe and pharisees and the Rabbis their direct decendent today.. Therefore all they tell you to do, that do but do not do as they do. This is the rule they exercise even over the contempory community of Israal. But the usurpation began with the priesthood decendents of Zadok Sadduce during the time of Hasmonean rule. This was and remains the beginning of the spiritual and theological problem and illegitimacy of the religious rule. As a surrogate High Priest was imposed contrary to Torah's dictions. The intent was for good but the result not so good. And yet haMashiach gives legitimacy to their usurpation of Moshe's seat ... The seat of rule over the people Israal . Why? Was it because it would spare his students from the official scorn and a premature retribution by those in power, or maybe because He reasoned that it might erode some of the disciples credibility in the eyes of the general population. An official all out effort mobilized by the rabbis might have hindered the desemination of Mashiach's teaching? Or perhaps it is becaause the matter is still under discussion between G d and the Rabbis and leaders or the Jew. How can we suppose such a thing? Well we read that in a day to come, none in Israal will say to his fellow Jew come, lets go and learn of Hashem... for each and every Jew will be filled with the knowledge of his G d and haMashiach. furthermore we are told that if one such fellow should arrise in the community and say to his peer the above afore mentioned ... even his very parents will slay such a one.. Every Jew will know G d, the least and the greatest. So, if this is the case, then the problem is one between G d and the usurpers of Moshes seat. It is a problem which will be resolved in ONE day, at the arrival of Mashiach. the illegitimate will then be displace by the legitimate... talk about legalism! But if the concern were one of compounding commentary and lessons, then as one has already posted and said... "the church has done its own variation of legalism" .. though maybe not so illigitamately in some cases. So in a day coming the usurpers of Moshe's seat will be judged, found in error by a body of their peers, selected Jews instructed personally by Mashiach .. so we are told. Even so, I agree with you.
