Subject: WHAT WAS JESUS ATTITUDE |
Bible Note: Searcher: You write: "He said the Law wouldn't pass away or change (vv 18-20)..." With all due respect, sir, may I complete the quote as it appears in the text of the Bible and then comment on it? Matthew 5:18 "For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law TILL ALL IS FULFILLED." (Emphasis added, NKJV) The law was fulfilled in Christ. "Yet not one jot or tittle is thereby erased; the underlying truths of those Scriptures remain -- and in fact the mysteries behind them are now revealed in the brighter light of the gospel. They have not passed from the law is the sense Jesus means here" (Page 1400, MacArthur Study Bible, Word Publishing, 1997). |
