Bible Question:
WHAT WAS JESUS ATTITUDE TOWARD THE LAW OF MOSES MATTHEW 5:17-20 |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Isa 33:22, Matt 5:17ff, Jam 4:12 ... Do not YELL - you do when you use UPPERCASE. Plus, it is harder to read. dltlshines, Starting in Matthew 5:17 -He did not come to dissolve or disunite (kataluo in the Greek) the Law or the Prophets. -He came to render full, i.e., to complete (pleroo) the Law by giving it a deeper meaning. He was the Lawgiver (Isa 33:22, Jam 4:12) He said the Law wouldn't pass away or change (vv 18-20) ... but He was against the hypocritical external legalism of the Pharisees (5:21 ff).
