Bible Note: Steve: Yes, those were the best Scriptures to use in the situation. Surely Jesus, the Messiah, knew the best Scriptures to use. And no, I cannot think of a better OT passage than He did. It would be presumptuous to claim I could have answered better than Jesus. Also, I think it is significant that Jesus quoted the Law -- He didn't reason with the devil, He didn't attempt to persuade the devil, He didn't argue with him. He merely quoted THE LAW and that was the end of it. The Law itself was adequate. Grace to you, Kalos |
