NASB | Matthew 4:21 Going on from there He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 4:21 And going on [further] from there He noticed two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets; and He called them [to follow Him as His disciples]. |
Bible Question: who was zebedee |
Bible Answer: Zebedee a Galilean fisherman, the husband of Salome (q.v.), and the father of James and John, two of our Lord's disciples (Mt 4:21; 27:56; Mr 15:40). He seems to have been a man of some position in Capernaum, for he had two boats (Lu 5:4) and "hired servants" (Mr 1:20) of his own. No mention is made of him after the call of his two sons by Jesus. |
