Subject: KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, KINGDOM OF GOD |
Bible Note: Just adding my 2 cents to an old post: To determine if "kingdom of heaven" and "kingdom of God" are the same thing, we need to find a passage where they are used interchangeably. Matthew is the only gospel that uses the phrase "kingdom of heaven" (over thirty times, in fact). The other gospels use the phrase "kingdom of God." So, our search will have to be limitted to Matthew. Matthew uses the phrase "kingdom of God" only five times. The only places where the phrases appear near one another is in Matthew 19:23-24, "Then said Jesus unto his disciples, 'Verily I say unto you, that a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.'" Here Christ is talking about the same thing and He uses the phrase "kingdom of heaven" and "kingdom of God" as synonomous terms. Therefore, we can conculsively say that they are the same thing QED. |
