Bible Question:
Why did John the Baptist baptize Jesus?, and did John know Jesus was the son of God before he baptized him? |
Bible Answer: Greetings, Matt 3:14 tells us that John knew that Jesus was the son of God, "But John tried to stop him and said, "I need to be baptized by you. Why are you coming to me?". Jesus was baptized because He needed to be identified with sinnners. The act of baptism was a necessary part of the righteousness He secured for sinners. It also pictured His death and resurrection and therefore prefigured the significance of Christian baptism. McArthur Study Bible). prayon |
