Bible Question:
If this request was just directed at the apostles then why do some say it is to all? On the other hand we are not all evangelists(Eph 4:11), so is there a difference between how some say that this request or 'great commission' was intended for all? - ie, does evangelists have a different meaning to spreading the word of God in order to convert? Why do I ask this? Because I see a great deal of conflict in interpretation and I personally think this is ok; however, when it is to provoke guilt I feel that it stops being of good intent and to force one's own interpretation on to another is not so good. For example, look at the diverse answers to the first question in this verse forum. All three answers are very different and to me that is ok. I sometimes think that we will only ever gets bits of it right but God knows it all and so trust Him. |
Bible Answer: If all we are ever going to get is bits and pieces,it is evenmore important to obey. Since we can't make an ultimately intellegent choice, we need to trust those to whom Jesus entrusted his church. Obedience is the key in the absence of all the facts. |
