NASB | Matthew 26:39 ¶ And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will." |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 26:39 ¶ And after going a little farther, He fell face down and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible [that is, consistent with Your will], let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will." |
Bible Question (short): let this cup pass |
Question (full): Was Jesus talking about the journey of the cross,in a human frame of mind---or was he talking about the "cup of wrath"(Rev14:10) that God would pour out in the end? I would think that God and Jesus never wanted to punish or destroy their children that they created but that ALL would come to salvation . |
