Bible Question:
I just watched a program on the television where a man, with a huge crowd said; I am much like God, I am a prophet and thats my job. You know after i first realized (i believe atleast) what the cross experience meant to Jesus, I never ever want high honor or anything like that. All i pray is "thy will be done Lord". Ok. How should i view this "prophet" of God? He claims to be one yet his preachings dont give me any comfort or anything. I cant help but view him with a skeptical eye. Does God even need prophets in this age? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Durgstyler, Welcome to the Forum! You stated that you heard a man on TV say that he is "much like God." The Bible says that we should beware of anyone with any claims of Godhood in these last days (Ezekiel 28; Matthew 24:5,24; 1 John 2:18). Also, if anyone claims to be a prophet, then I fear for him and the judgment that he or she might incur if their claim turns out to be false (Deuteronomy 18:20-22). As for present day prophecy, no modern prophecy or word of wisdom is even in the same realm with God's eternal Word. Heaven and earth will pass away; God's Word will abide (Matt. 5:18). Blessings to you, Makarios |
