AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 24:45 ¶ "Who then is the faithful and wise servant whom his master has put in charge of his household to give the others [in the house] their food and supplies at the proper time? [Luke 12:42-46] |
Bible Question: I heard scholars of the Jesus Committee studied this verse for 2 years and were unable to determine its meaning. Does anyone know? |
Bible Answer: Cited for reference: Matt 24:45 "Who then is the faithful and sensible slave whom his master put in charge of his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46 "Blessed is that slave whom his master finds so doing when he comes. 47 "Truly I say to you that he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 48 "But if that evil slave says in his heart, 'My master is not coming for a long time,' 49 and begins to beat his fellow slaves and eat and drink with drunkards; 50 the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour which he does not know, 51 and will cut him in pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. I must admit, this seems fairly straight forward and plain to me but then, maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way and I'm sure you'll several other responses. To me the slave mentioned in verse 45 is the same main character cited throughout this parable of Christ. He's just emphasizing His point about the end of the world and how some people will be found, doing things they wouldn't dream of doing IF they had an "iota" of an idea that the end of the world is about to descend upon them. What do you think? God bless. --Rowdy |
