AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 24:3 ¶ While Jesus was seated on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, and said, "Tell us, when will this [destruction of the temple] take place, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end (completion, consummation) of the age?" |
Bible Question: Can "coming" be translated "presence?" |
Bible Answer: bstudent3, Your attempts to post are not taken seriously because you have been revoked! With that given, here is my response: The Greek, parousia (coming) is used 24 times in the NT. All but twice it is translated "coming". It does not fit theologically in Matt. 24:3 as "coming" is not "presence". It is not..."the sign of Your PRESENCE...! Note Phil. 1:26, "That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again." Presence would not make as much grammatical sense- and Paul coming invisibly makes absolutely no sense. His coming will take place as Revelation 1:7 says: "Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen." His coming is a visible one- not invisible as the Watchtower teach- as scripture clearly teaches. BradK |
