Bible Question:
Hi teachers I am reading the Jerusalem Bible What is the following meant by ? And I wonder why "desolate" was left out in Luke. So be it! Your house will be left to you desolate. Matthew 23:38 So be it! Your house will be left to you. Luke 13:35 Thank you in advance |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling" (Matt 23:37) ... God's day to you, sunam, We aren't teachers, except for Tim Moran, that I know of. Nonetheless, it is important as a student, as we all are, to look at the context. The context, even the previous verse shows the rejection of the prophets. Because of their actions - they will have empty houses, which happened AD 70. as it happened before. This is in a series of woes ... the bigger context. This one affects the whole city/nation. Searcher |
