AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 23:34 ¶ "Therefore, take notice, I am sending you prophets and wise men [interpreters, teachers] and scribes [men educated in the Mosaic Law and the writings of the prophets]; some of them you will kill and even crucify, and some you will flog in your synagogues, and pursue and persecute from city to city, |
Bible Question: My question was does God uses people to prophecy any more, you give me isaiah and I knew he did in the old testament but do he in the new testament as well. |
Bible Answer: Acts 13:1 says there were prophets: "In the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul." Also 1 Corinthians 12:28 - "And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues" Since there is a gift of prohecy (1 Corrintians 12:10), I assume that gift is still given. Of course, a prophet is simply one who speaks a message from God; not all prophecy foretells the future. I hope this is helpful. Peace and grace, Steve |
