AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 22:40 "The whole Law and the [writings of the] Prophets depend on these two commandments." |
Bible Question (short): Matt 22:40, Why do the prophets hang? |
Question (full): In Matthew 22:36-40 the greatest commandments are given. In verse 40 Jesus states that all the law and the prophets hang on these commandments. I understand what the law means in this statement but what does he mean by the prophets hang on these commandments? Why would the prophets hang on these commandments. I know hang is not literally meaning "to hang" as in an execution. It seems to me that the prophets wouldn't mean anything if these two commandments weren't followed or existed. Any great insight? |
