AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 21:15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful and miraculous things that Jesus had done, and heard the boys who were shouting in [the porticoes and courts of] the temple [in praise and adoration], "Hosanna to the Son of David (the Messiah)," they became indignant |
Bible Question: why did Jesus retaliate very harshly when he saw people doing business in the temple where as Jesus teaching was to pardon others always and never react in a violent way. He told us show the other cheek also when someone slaps and to pardon your brother 70 times and not 7. Won't this act of Jesus at the temple tells us that we can also react harshly if required. |
Bible Answer: Jesus didn't really react harshly. He acted completely within reason. People were misusing the very house or temple of God. So Jesus prevented them from continuing what they were doing and corrected their behavior. |
