Bible Question:
I'm a little confused about the context here. My NIV reads "So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt" The next verse (Matt. 2:15) reads "And so it was fulfilled what the Lord had said through the prophet: 'Out of Egypt I called my son." Wasn't He (Jesus) called into rather than out of Egypt? Does this refer to later when he was called back? re: Matt 2:20 ...I may have just answered my own question...but if anyone can confirm this for me it would be greatly appreciated. Love in Christ Jesus MIke |
Bible Answer: dear mike, Jesus did both go in and come out just as the children of Israel went in(joseph, then later jacob and all his sons), and came out(led by moses). the emphasis is on coming out, being delivered out of bondage. Jesus, escaped the wrath of Herod, we escape the wrath of God. |
