AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 19:16 ¶ And someone came to Him and said, "Teacher, what [essentially] good thing shall I do to obtain eternal life [that is, eternal salvation in the Messiah's kingdom]?" [Lev 18:5; Mark 10:17-30; Luke 18:18-30] |
Bible Question: Why did Jesus' answers varied when asked the same question? In Matt. 19:16, the rich man asked him, "What must I do to inherit eternal life? In Luke 10:25, a lawyer asked him the same thing. Jesus told the rich man to sell all and give to the poor and then follow him. He told the lawyer to love his neighbor as himself. |
Bible Answer: Greetings, Actually they were the same. In both cases Christ told each man to give up all he owned and if he did he would have eternal life. In order to love your neighbor as yourself you must put your neighbor above all including your riches. prayon |
