Bible Question:
In Matt. 13:30, who is gathered first -- the tares or the wheat? If the tares (the wicked) are gathered first, how does this affect your interpretation of eschatology (the doctrine of future things; prophecy)? NASB Matthew 13:30 'Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn.""' |
Bible Answer: Greetings Kalos, I agree, the tares (the wicked) have to stay, and the wheat is what is gathered, or 'raptured.' We know that the Lord will judge the earth and its inhabitants for rejecting Him, but He will protect those who have put their faith in him and spare the church from His wrath. I cannot find or fathom any Biblical evidence whatsoever that would lead anyone to believe that the tares (the wicked) would be gathered first.. Grace to you, Makarios |
