Bible Question: What did Jesus mean when He said I come to bring a sword to divide a daughter and her mother etc |
Bible Answer: My understanding is that He was simply saying that the truth will divide mother against daughter. I'm reminded of a story I heard about a Jewish young man who accepted Christ and was banished from his home and family! Which is more important? I can also picture times in history were the younger generations, or older, refused to conform to the older generation because they were convicted by Christianity. In such cases as racism, nazi germany, etc. When you are forced to choose, always choose Christ!! Hope this helps! I wanted to know, was there anything you did with your question to require scriptural documentation? This is good exercise! I usually just start talking (writing) and mention various quotes without getting out the concordance to look up the specific verse! It's a healthy process!! If you don't have a profile fill one out!! GOD bless! |
