AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 12:32 "Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit [by attributing the miracles done by Me to Satan] will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come. [Mark 3:29; Luke 12:10] |
Bible Question:
tgc, you wrote: "Yes I am one who belives in the eternal security of the beliver but more than that I firmly belive the unpardonable sin is to reject what Christ did for us on the cross. This is the ultimate blashemy of the Holy Spirit rejecting the conviction He puts on ones heart and rejecting Christ payment for ones sins." Do you feel that the following verse is an adequate description of rejecting "what Christ did for us on the cross?": "How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?" [Hebrews 10:29] |
Bible Answer: Stultis the Fool I believe that the individual mentioned in Heb. 10:29 1)insulted the Spirit of grace. To me that means He has in some way dishonored the Holy Spirit. 2) The passage also says: "he was sanctified" that looks like in the past tense. And I don't think it can be said that unbelievers are ever sanctified in the same way as is intended in this verse. 3)Therefore God is not please with such an individual, and will mete out sever punishment to him. So I would say yes; It's much the same as is stated in 2 Pet. 2:20-22 |
